Report: Drunk Southbridge Dad Arrested After Leaving Kids In Car

SOUTHBRIDGE (CBS) - A Southbridge man reportedly faces reckless endangerment charges after police say they found him passed out drunk in his apartment while his two young children were left in a parked car.

According to a report in the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, a neighbor called police on Wednesday after seeing the 4-year-old and a 2-year-old restrained in a parked car in a lot at 402 Main Street.

Police say the children had been in the car for more than 30 minutes. Officers reportedly found the key in the ignition and vomit on the car door.

Officials were able to identify the children's father as 25-year-old John Metcalf III.

After finding blood outside his locked apartment door, officers used a battering ram to get into the apartment, where they say they found Metcalf passed out in his underwear.

Metcalf reportedly had full custody of the children, who have since been placed in state custody.
