Sisters Rescue Boy Who Nearly Drowned In Cape Cod Pool

YARMOUTH (CBS) - Three women enjoying a summer weekend on Cape Cod had perfect timing. They saved a little boy who nearly drowned in a hotel pool.

"He was at the bottom of the pool," said Laurie Rebello. "Face down."

They were on vacation at a Cape Cod resort when they saw a 5-year-old boy on the bottom of the pool.

"Instinctively I just jumped in the pool and the moment I put my foot under that little boy, I pulled him up out of the pool with like Superman strength and screamed at the top of my lungs," said Laurie.

"We ran when we heard her bloodcurdling scream," said Karen Raposa.

It just so happens they both know CPR and started working on the little boy who had no pulse.

"He was blue," said Karen, "and I remember just shaking but knowing what to do."

EMTs arrived within minutes, and took the boy to Cape Cod Hospital.

"I would like everyone to know CPR and first aid," said Dep. Phil Simonian of the Yarmouth Fire Department. "It's gonna directly affect the outcome of the patient."

Laurie Rebello had just finished her CPR training three weeks ago.

"I called my CPR trainer to tell her what had happened and she was in tears," said Laurie.
