Fire That Destroyed Brookline Home Was Intentionally Set

BROOKLINE (CBS) – A fire that destroyed a home in Brookline Friday night was intentionally set. Brookline Fire Chief Paul Ford has confirmed that the fire at 71 Spooner Road has been determined to be an act of arson.

The home has been empty since 2005 and there is ongoing litigation over whether its construction violated zoning laws.

No arrests have been made and the incident remains under investigation.

Firefighters battled the blaze in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood for hours. Crews from surrounding communities were called to help. No one was injured in the fire.
