Support Grows For State Police Trooper Who Leaked Tsarnaev Photos

BOSTON (CBS) - The Massachusetts State Police Sgt. who leaked photos of Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's capture may face more disciplinary action. A hearing is scheduled Tuesday to determine the fate of his job.

Sgt. Sean Murphy released the photos in reaction to Rolling Stone Magazine's controversial cover shot of Tsarnaev last week. Murphy called his version "the real Boston bomber."

One local man is raising money for Murphy, who's already taken one day without pay.

"If we can get over $10,000, that would be fantastic. I want to make sure he knows there are people nationwide behind him," says Greg Agnew.

He started a website called "Support Sgt. Sean Murphy."

So far he's raised a thousand dollars, and says if Murphy turns the money down, he'll donate it to the One Fund.

There's also a Facebook Page with a petition to save Murphy's job. So far, it has more than 54 thousand likes.
