Fatal Chatham Crash Under Investigation

CHATHAM, Mass. (CBS) -- A motorist was killed and several others were injured Saturday night in a crash on Main Street, police said in a prepared statement.

The crash occurred at 6:22 p.m. and involved a vehicle that had failed to stop for Harwich police and fled into Chatham, police said, adding several other vehicles were involved in the fatal crash.

A motorist was killed in the crash and criminal charges are expected to be filed, police said.

After the crash, Main Street (Route 28) was closed between George Ryder Road and Sequanset Road.

Several agencies are investigating the incident, including the Chatham Police, Harwich Police, Massachusetts State Police, Barnstable County Sheriff's Office.
