Abraham On Toucher & Rich: Uehara Right Choice For Closer?

The Red Sox have been having problems with pitching recently. The team tried to work with Clay Buchholz and pushed off a few starts before eventually placing him on the DL.

Andrew Bailey struggled at the end of games and blew a save and lost the closing job after blowing a game against the Detroit Tigers. Koji Uehara got the nod to close out games, but there are concerns.

"The Red Sox, who have been saying since they obtained him really that they feel like he's at his best when he gets at least one day off between outings," Red Sox insider Peter Abraham told 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich, "They've gone against that a few times this year and put him in games on back to back nights."

"But, now you're naming naming the guy closer and he's probably got the best stuff to be the closer of the guys who are available."

"It's difficult because they're going against what they think is best for the guy."

The guys went on to discuss the work of Andrew Miller and Junichi Tazawa on the mound. They also discussed a bad call by the umpire in game against the Tigers.
