iPhone App Leads Wellesley Police To Suspect In Car Break-Ins

WELLESLEY (CBS) -- A common iPhone app led to the arrest of a Connecticut man.

On Thursday morning, Wellesley Police received a call about two car break-ins in a parking lot on Oakland Street.

One of the victims had their iPhone stolen during the break-in.

Police suggested the person using the "Find My iPhone" app to try to track the stolen phone.

Once installed on a phone, the app allows the owner to track the phone in real-time.

Using the app, police traced the phone to Court Street in Brockton.

There, they found a stolen Chevy pickup truck with two people inside.

Once they stopped the truck, they found stolen items, including the iPhone and items from car break-ins in Stow.

The driver of the truck, Sean McLaughlin of Connecticut, was arrested.

McLaughin is also wanted by Connecticut police for parole violations.

Wellesley Police say he'll be charged with multiple crimes, including breaking and entering, receiving stolen property and larceny of a motor vehicle.

McLaughlin is being held without bail.
