10-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Wellesley Pond

WELLESLEY (CBS) - A 10-year-old boy has died after being pulled from Morses Pond, police said.

A member of the Wellesley Fire Department's Dive Team found the 10-year-old in Morses Pond on Saturday night after the child had been reported missing at 5:57 p.m., according to Police Lt. Marie Cleary.

The boy, who apparently had been swimming at Morses Pond Beach, was taken to Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He could not be resuscitated, Cleary said.

She said the 10-year-old was pulled from an area of the pond that is waist-deep.

Morses Pond Beach is located on Turner Road.

There were life guards on duty when the child was reported missing by a family member, police said. Morses Pond will be closed to the public on Sunday while police investigate the incident.
