Pittsburgh Bakery Changes Name Of Its Boston Cream Pie

BOSTON (CBS) – A popular Pittsburgh bakery has decided to take a cheap shot at Boston history in order to win over customers in its home city.

Ahead of the Bruins series against the Penguins, Oakmont Bakery changed the name of its Boston Cream Pie, an iconic dish that happens to be the official state dessert of Massachusetts.

Apparently the bakery already uses the name "Pittsburgh Cream" for another one of its products, so it had to settle for the name "Penguins Cream." The back-up name was met with very mixed reviews on the bakery's Facebook page.

This is not the first botched boycott to come out of Pittsburgh this week.

A Pittsburgh bar banned Sam Adams beer because of its ties to Boston. Apparently the owners of the bar are unaware that Sam Adams employs about 200 people at a satellite brewery in Pennsylvania.
