80-Year-Old Milton Mural To Be Destroyed Along With Building

MILTON (CBS) -- A building where the Milton Women's Club has been meeting since 1931 will be torn down, leaving a 80-year-old mural to fall as well.

The Milton Women's Club has been meeting since 1898 and have held meetings in the same building since 1931. In the foyer of the building is a mural painted by artist Jeannie Dupe, depicting club members of the time.

"It was painted on canvas and then fixed to the wall. There in lies the problem," said Deanna Seymourian, a Milton Women's Club Member. "It would go down with it unfortunately"

Seymourian and the rest of the club is very sad to see the building and the mural go.

"We're all sad about the demise of the building, but it's sold, papers are pretty final," she said.
