PLYMOUTH (CBS) – The search for a missing 10-year-old girl in Plymouth had a happy ending Saturday morning.

Victoria Kasica of Brockton was at the Sandy Pond Campground when she wandered off around 7 p.m. Friday, setting off a frantic search.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Mark Katic reports

She was found around 8 a.m. Saturday and taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated for hypothermia, scratches and bruises.

Afterwards, Victoria told WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Mark Katic she left the family camp site because she didn’t want to help put the groceries away.

They’ve come to Sandy Pond for years and Victoria thought she was on her favorite trail, but as night fell she became lost.

“I heard someone on the megaphone and I just couldn’t find where they were. By that point I had ventured off the trail to try to find them,” she told WBZ.

“The campgound owners. I can’t say enough about how I appreciate them and all the law enforcement, how grateful I am that they brought my daughter home safe,” said her mother Laura.
