Report: Patriots Sign WR Lavelle Hawkins
BOSTON (CBS) - The New England Patriots have added yet another wide receiver in hopes of revamping the position this off-season.
According to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean, the Patriots have agreed to a two-year contract with free-agent receiver Lavelle Hawkins, who spent all five of his previous NFL seasons with the Titans.
The 5-11, 194-lb Hawkins was a fourth-round pick out of California in 2008, and has 71 career receptions for 771 yards and a touchdown over 52 games.

An ankle injury limited Hawkins to seven games last season, and he had just five catches for 62 yards. This came after a career-year in 2011 when he set a career-high with 47 receptions, 470 yards and his lone touchdown.

Known for his speed, Hawkins also has experience in the return game. He returned seven kickoffs in 2012, including a career-high 71-yarder.
Hawkins was released by the Titans last week, and there is no guarantee he'll earn a roster spot with 11 other receivers battling for a job.
