Two People Dead After Being Pulled From Water Off Gloucester

GLOUCESTER (CBS) -- Two people were pulled from the water off Eastern Point on Sunday and were later declared dead at a local hospital, police said.

Just before 5 p.m., a witness called 911 after seeing two people in the water, according to Gloucester Police Chief Michael Lane. The pair were pulled from the water around 6 p.m. and taken to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester, where they were both pronounced dead.

It is not clear how the duo ended up in the water or their relationship, Lane said, adding the deaths did not appear suspicious.

Police are not releasing any further information at this time and the incident remains under investigation.
