Boston City Hall To Have Voicemail For First Time In Menino's Tenure

BOSTON (CBS) - Whether it's at home or at work, most everyone is used to having the convenience of voicemail. But for the first time, that convenience will be coming to Boston City Hall employees.

In the 20 years since Tom Menino took office as Boston's Mayor, city hall workers have not been allowed to use voicemail. His goal was to ensure that anyone calling in would get a person, not a machine.

Now, the phone system at City Hall will be accepting messages, but will only be active after hours and on weekends.
