FITCHBURG (CBS) – Crews were still putting out hotspots late Friday night after a fire tore through a three-story building in Fitchburg.

Firefighters responded to the building on Hale Street shortly before 5p.m. The fire then spread to a home next door.

The Sentinel and Enterprise reports that the building previously had been known as a place where homeless people stayed. Officials do not yet know if anyone was inside.

There is no word yet on what may have caused the fire.
