Miss Universe Says She's Dropping Out Of Boston University

BOSTON (CBS) - The newly-crowned Miss Universe says she will not be returning to Boston University.

Olivia Culpo, who is from Cranston, Rhode Island, told the BU student newspaper that she has decided to drop out of school.

Culpo will be traveling the world as an HIV-AIDS prevention spokesperson.

As Miss Universe, she receives a salary and a luxury apartment in New York City.

Culpo, who had just finished her sophomore year at BU and landed on the Dean's List all four semesters she was there, told the paper she would like to eventually pursue a career in television or film.

She's the first American to win Miss Universe since Brook Lee won in 1997.
