BOSTON (CBS) – A lane was closed inside the Callahan Tunnel after a piece of sheet metal fell onto the roadway Friday night.

The left lane was closed while inspectors made sure other panels weren’t in danger of falling. Three additional panels were removed as a precaution.READ MORE: Hundreds March In Boston Demanding Justice For Daunte Wright's Death

The DOT says the panels have come loose in the past and they plan to revamp the tunnel next year.
