Pedestrian Accident After Patriots Game Ends In Arrest

FOXBORO (CBS) - A hole in the windshield and a broken rear-view mirror were a giveaway to police that a vehicle traveling near Gillette Stadium may have been involved in a pedestrian accident after the game.

At about 1 a.m., a state police officer working a detail at the Patriots Game was informed by a driver there was an accident not that far away.

The trooper headed north on Route 1 and saw a man lying in the road in a lot of pain, police said. The 30-year-old man had a broken leg, cuts and bruises.

Another trooper working two miles away saw the Infinity sedan, believed to have hit the man, with a hole in the windshield and a broken rear-view mirror.

Police arrested Daniel Lishness, 27, of Southwick, and charged him with driving while under the influence of alcohol (second offense), leaving the scene of personal injury, negligent operation of a vehicle and OUI liquor with serious injury and negligent operation.

Lishness was held overnight and will be arraigned Tuesday in Wrentham District Court.

Police did not say whether the men had been at the Patriots game prior to the crash.
