Jerry York Going For 924th Career Win Friday Night Vs. BU

BOSTON (CBS) -- A BU-BC hockey showdown on a Friday night always carries with it a high level of intensity, but tonight promises to add even more.

With the No. 1 Eagles visiting the No. 9 Terriers for a Hockey East clash, BC head coach Jerry York sits one win shy of tying the mark for most career Division I victories in history. He currently owns 923 career victories, and a win Friday night would tie it, while a weekend sweep over BU would place York alone in history.

"It's not a big thing for me,'' York told The Boston Globe. "I talked to our players the other day about that. When you put yourself above the team, it's never been part of my fabric. Our players are the same way ... so I think that's important.''

It's fitting that the man standing in the way of postponing that inevitable milestone is BU's Jack Parker, the owner of 883 wins himself.

"I hope he doesn't do it against BU," Parker told the Globe. "But he'll do it very soon."

Tune in to the BC-BU hockey game Friday night on 98.5 The Sports Hub. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
