8 Cats Found Dead In Lawrence In 2 Weeks

LAWRENCE (CBS) - Eight cats have been found dead in one neighborhood in the last two weeks, according to Lawrence Police Chief John Romero.

Seven of the cats showed evidence they were poisoned.

The eighth had a fractured skull and investigators believe it was hit over the head with a blunt object.

The cats have all turned up in the area of Lowell and Greenwood Streets.

There have been no arrests.

Animal cruelty is a felony in Massachusetts punishable with up to five years in prison and a $2,500 fine.
