MA Police Assisting New Jersey During Sandy Aftermath

BOSTON (CBS) - New Jersey authorities requested law enforcement assistance late last week, and on Saturday, Massachusetts answered the call.

25 state troopers gathered at the Sturbridge Barracks before leaving for New Jersey on Saturday. The troopers will spend the next week helping New Jersey Police in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Many of the officers are members of the State Police Special Emergency Response Team and the K-9 Section.

The troopers will be help patrol areas devastated by the storm, and brought cruisers and gear with them.
