'Hero' Pig Finds Wounded Cat 3 Days After NH Barn Fire

ANDOVER (CBS) - A cat believed to have died in a massive barn fire in Bedford, New Hampshire earlier this month is recovering at the Andover Animal Hospital.

The cat's owner credits a pig for rescuing the animal.

Gumbo is wearing a cone around his neck to prevent him from licking his wounds. He suffered second degree burns on his three paws, his tail and ears, when the barn at the Perry Hill Farm burned down.

Owner Harriett Finks thought he died in the fire, but days later, her pig, Miss Colby, sniffed him out in the woods.

"She went to the woods, we followed her, because she looked like she was on a mission, and she found him," says Finks. "She's always been our hero."

Thirteen days after the fire was another miracle. Gumbo's sister Gidgett was found alive.

The fire destroyed a 10,000 square foot barn that was home to 22 horses. Only eight of them survived.
