Adrian Gonzalez Scratched From Red Sox Lineup
BOSTON (CBS) - Amid rumors of a blockbuster trade between the Red Sox and Dodgers, Adrian Gonzalez has been scratched from the Red Sox lineup.
Gonzalez was slated to bat fifth and play first base for Boston as they open a four-game set with the Royals at Fenway. Mauro Gomez took Gonzalez's spot at first and bat seventh.
According to ESPNBoston's Gordon Edes, Boston is close to sending Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto to the Dodgers for a package of prospects and first baseman James Loney.
Gonzalez is batting .300 for the season 15 home runs and a team-leading 85 RBI.
