Jaffrey, NH Cancels Fireworks Festival Over Bomb Threat Intended To 'Disrupt' Event

Jaffrey police say the threat was directed toward Jaffrey town officials. Police say similar threats were received by the Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce and the Keene Sentinel.

"This is being investigated as a bomb threat directed at the people attending the fireworks show with the apparent motive of causing disruption of the event and an adverse impact on the Town of Jaffrey," a statement from Jaffrey police said.

Police said they do not yet know where the letter came from, and because of the timing, they are not confident that they could assure proper security for the event.

The FBI, ATF, and Postal Inspector's office, along with state and local officials are all investigating.
