Robber Blasts Fall River Convenience Store Owner With Pepper Spray

FALL RIVER (CBS) - A robber repeatedly blasted a Fall River convenience store owner with pepper spray on Sunday, before taking off with the cash register, according to police.

The man walked into Stop and Save, pretended that he was going to buy a drink, and walked up to the counter.

There, he pepper sprayed Sunita Mahaseth four times and grabbed the cash register, which had hundreds of dollars in it.

Mahaseth and her husband Lal just opened the store back in January.

They say they love their customers, but they are nervous about the neighborhood and the customers they are not familiar with.

Sunita says she is not going to let what happened to her stop her from living the American dream but will remain cautious until police capture the thief.

The store does have surveillance cameras, and the Mahaseths are hoping the video taken during the robbery will help catch the crook.
