Chad Ochocinco Announces He's Changed Name Back To Chad Johnson

BOSTON (CBS) - He'll still wear No. 85 this year with the Miami Dolphins, but there will be a new name above it for the wide receiver formerly known as Chad Ochocinco.

The 34-year-old announced Monday morning on his website that he has changed his name back to Chad Johnson.

"The main reason behind the name change was due to his marriage to Evelyn Lozada," the site said. "The couple preferred Evelyn's last name to be a real name and not the fun 'Ochocinco' character we have come to love."

The receiver originally changed his last name from Johnson to Ochocinco in 2008, though he did not wear the name on the back of his jersey until the 2009 season.

Perhaps he's hoping for a change of fortune on the football field with a name change, as he's coming off his worst season as a pro. Last year in New England, he caught just 15 passes for 276 yards and one touchdown. In 2007, his last year with the legal name of Johnson, he caught 93 passes for 1,440 yards and eight touchdowns.
