Front Row Live Music Pick: Lotus Plaza

BOSTON (CBS) - Lotus Plaza is the solo project of musician Lockett Pundt, who is the guitar player in Deerhunter. He met Deerhunter vocalist Bradford Cox in high school and they immediately formed a musical alliance in which the whole is more than the sum of the parts.

Deerhunter is a wildly cool band from Atlanta that has described its sound as ambient punk. Their discography includes the Rainwater Cassette Exchange EP from 2009 and Halcyon Digest which dropped in 2010. Lotus Plaza releases include Spooky Action at a Distance and The Floodlight Collective.

Lotus Plaza is influenced by Stereolab, My Bloody Valentine, and of course Deerhunter. The project is associated with the surf-gaze and industrial punk sounds. Think reverb, reverb, reverb. Check out the material before you buy tix, but chances are you will dig Lotus Plaza.
