Buck On Toucher & Rich: Sox Have Been 'Destroyed By Injuries'

The All-Star Break is almost here and the Red Sox are four games over .500 and have dropped three of five so far on this West Coast road trip. Johnston and Flynn were in while Toucher & Rich are out on vacation and the guys were joined by Chip Buck of Fire Brand of the American League.

The guys discussed whether we have seen the real Sox at all this season, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and the starting rotation.

The halfway point of the season is just around the corner and the guys wonder have we even seen what this Red Sox team is made of at this point?

"I don't think so, the team has been destroyed by injuries, especially in the outfield where at one point they lost their top four."

The guys discuss the changes that will have to be made to the roster once these guys start to come back from injury. They also discussed the performance of catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia so far this season.

Some didn't expect him to be hitting as well as he has been. Can he maintain this good play through the second half of the season?

"A lot of times catcher tend to wear out and last year that certainly happened where he got off to a slow start, had a tremendous middle of the season and then fell off the table in September, so that's what I'm kind of wondering. I think he's the real thing."

They went on to discuss the issues the Sox have been dealing with at the starter position and why Jon Lester is not meeting expectations.
