Clean River Project Cleansing Merrimack River

BOSTON (CBS) - A portion of a river that feeds our drinking supply was polluted and disgusting, but one man changed that with a creative idea.

Rocky Morrison founded the Clean River Project to clean up the Merrimack River.

Back in 2005, he started by challenging boaters to a scavenger hunt, really it was a trash pick up.

Since then, it's been going on every year, and they have pulled out hundreds of tires, 23 dumped cars and thousands of pounds of garbage.

Some shores are so clean they look like perfect beaches now, and it all started with one guy wanting to make a difference.
