HALIFAX (CBS) – A 17-year old Halifax girl tested positive for cocaine Thursday, just minutes after a court appearance on reckless driving charges.

Monica Knight, a 17-year-old junior at Sliver Lake Regional High School, was in court Thursday facing several charges related to the accident on March 30, hours before the school’s junior prom.

As part of her release, Knight was equipped with a GPS monitoring bracelet. She was also tested for drugs in her system.

The test revealed the presence of cocaine.

Knight was at the wheel of her BMW last March, when she crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with a school bus in Kingston.

The bus had just dropped off students at Silver Lake High School.

On Thursday, Kingston’s police chief revealed that they found drugs in Knight’s car following the crash.

“There were some prescription drugs found… We did a search warrant on the vehicle, and there was marijuana, and also what they call spice,” said Chief Joseph Rebello.

Three passengers in Knight’s car were seriously injured in that crash.

One of them, Eva Lipton is still in a coma.

The school bus and car crashed on Lake Street in Kingston.

Police said Knight and her passengers were not wearing seat belts.

Knight is apparently not shy about her alleged drug use.

Last weekend, she tweeted, “fattest blunt I’ve smoked in mad long…mmmm”. A blunt is slang for a marijuana cigarette.
