Sam Adams-Made Whiskey To Hit Market In 2015

BOSTON (CBS) - A major brewer and distiller in Massachusetts are joining forces to create a unique whiskey.

The Boston Beer Company, brewers of Sam Adams, is teaming up with the Berkshire Mountain Distillers of Great Barrington to produce two new whiskeys.

"We're completing the cycle of alcohol," said Jim Cook, founder of Sam Adams.

The new joint-whiskey will be called "Cinder Block" and will be made from Sam Adams Lager.

Chris Weld, the founder of Berkshire Mountain Distillers, said the process is simple.

"You condense it, re-condense it and collect it as un-aged whiskey that will then go into wood and age and come out as a beautiful spirit in a few years," Weld said. "Here, we're starting with a baseline great product so as long as we do the right thing on our end, I think we're going to end up with something pretty unique and spectacular."

The first batch of premium whiskey made from Sam Adams is due out in 2015.
