3 Shot, 5 Hurt At Party Fundraiser In Mattapan

MATTAPAN (CBS) - Violence broke out in Mattapan shortly after midnight Monday morning as three people were shot at a party on Orlando Street.

A 31-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen and transported to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Two men took themselves to Carney Hospital after the shooting. A 23-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his right eye and a 27-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his left arm.

Two additional victims were treated and released at Carney Hospital after suffering minor injuries leaving the scene.

Boston police are looking for four black men. People at the party didn't recognize the men, who were wearing hoodies.

The men had demanded food, but when they were told the party was over, they pulled guns and started shooting.

The party was a second annual fundraiser for family of Jamaican soccer star Mark Wisdom, who was killed three years ago in Upstate New York.

A second day for the fundraiser was planned on Monday, but Boston police shut it down citing a public safety concern.
