Hazardous Materials Team Responds To Mass. Prison
GARDNER, Mass. (AP) — A hazardous materials team responded to a brief incident at a state prison in Gardner.
Department of Correction spokeswoman Diane Wiffin said employees working in the North Central Correctional Institution's mailroom reported experiencing burning sensations in their lungs at about 10:15 a.m. Thursday while they were processing mail.
She said a hazmat team responded, but did not find any hazardous materials.
Wiffin said the burning sensation lasted only a short time and the workers were not taken to the hospital.
