Girl Critically Hurt After Falling From Fall River Window

FALL RIVER (CBS) - A two-year-old girl was critically injured after falling from a third-floor window in Fall River Tuesday night.

She fell about 30 feet from an apartment on East Main Street. Responding police officers and EMS workers found the child lying motionless on the ground with severe head trauma.

Police are investigating how this happened.

"It appears at this time that this event is a tragic accident and there does not appear to be of a suspicious nature," said Det. J.D. Costa, spokesperson for the Fall River Police Department.

The girl was rushed to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Rhode Island with life-threatening injuries and was placed in intensive care.

The girl's name has not been released.
