BOSTON (CBS) – In addition to its “birthplace of Facebook” title, Harvard University as an organization is also a true believer in using social media, according to Cambridge-based firm StudentAdvisor.com.
The site’s new ranking puts Harvard in the top spot for innovation in using social media and execution of social media strategies, followed by Johns Hopkins University and University of Notre Dame.
Harvard was ranked number one in part thanks to its Harvard Social Media Dashboard, which StudentAdvisor said “shows how it’s done by incorporating video, Facebook, Twitter and more.”
Also ranking in the top 25 from Massachusetts is Emerson College (No. 13), Berklee College of Music (No. 22) and MIT (No. 25).
In a news release announcing the rankings, StudentAdvisor also highlighted South Hadley’s Mount Holyoke College (No. 77), which the firm said “has begun almost exclusively using social media for alumni fundraising and is piloting a new mobile payments app that enables students to pay for purchases around campus.”
