Westboro School Committee Approves New Drug Testing Policy

WESTBORO (CBS) – The Westboro School Committee has approved a new policy that would have students submit to a saliva test if they are suspected of being drunk or high on drugs in school or at a school function.

The policy is an outgrowth of an existing, tough anti-drug and alcohol policy that's been in effect for years.

The Superintendent says it complies with the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association guidelines which require all students who take part in competitive sports be drug tested.

Parents would be contacted after the test for a discussion with school officials.
