Tyler Seguin Advances To Round Of 16 In NHL 13 Cover Vote

BOSTON (CBS) -- The popularity of 20-year-old Tyler Seguin continues to rise.

The young Bruins winger has advanced to the round of 16 in the vote for the cover athlete on NHL 13.

The voting began with 60 players -- two from each team -- and was whittled down to 32 (two from each team plus two "wild cards"). In that round, players didn't match up head to head. Instead, the highest vote-getters moved on to the round of 16.

In that round, Seguin will be matched up directly with Philadelphia's Scott Hartnell. While Seguin has game-winning, overtime playoff goals working for him, he's up against it with Hartnell, who's campaigning hard to win the vote.

If you're a Bruins fans and you're worried about something along the lines of a "Madden curse," the folks at EA Sports assure you there's no such thing with the NHL franchise. Patrick Kane was on the cover in 2010 and ended up scoring the Stanley Cup-winning goal, while Steven Stamkos appeared on last year's edition and scored an NHL-best 60 goals.

Fans can vote at NHL.com/covervote until May 2 for this round.
