ROWLEY (CBS) – A police officer and a driver were hurt in a crash in Rowley late Monday morning.

Officer Matthew Ziev was responding to an emergency call when his cruiser collided with an SUV on Route 133 around 11 a.m.

Rescuers needed the Jaws of Life to pull Ziev from the wreck.

He was rushed to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston on a Med Flight rescue helicopter.

The driver of the SUV was walking around after the crash.  She was taken to Anna Jaques Hospital.

Both Ziev and the driver of the SUV were released from the hospital later on Monday.

It’s still not clear what caused the crash.

Police said Ziev was heading east on Route 133 while the SUV was going west at the time of the accident.

Ziev is a 6-year-veteran of the Rowley Police Department.

Probably another head impact with the partition/cage.

I was almost hit by a cop that ran a stop sign and made an illegal left turn too. The cops started yelling at me, I pointed out that he made an illegal left turn and the fool just yelled more, cops can be such clowns.

I’m sure you are the clown. They were responding to an emergency, not just doing what you think they are doing. I know you do not know police procedures, nor do you have realistic expectations of public safety.
