FOXBORO (CBS) – The New England Patriots signed unrestricted free agent wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez Saturday.

Gonzalez, 27, played five seasons for the Indianapolis Colts after they drafted him in the first round in 2007 out of Ohio State.

He started 12 of 40 games and has 99 career receptions for 1,307 yards and seven touchdowns.

But, he missed most of the 2009 and ’10 seasons with injuries.

Gonzalez played in eight games last season.

He’s also a former high school teammate of Patriots backup quarterback Brian Hoyer.
