30,000 Boxes Of Girl Scout Cookies Headed To Troops Overseas

BEDFORD (CBS) - Thirty-thousand donated boxes of Girl Scout Cookies have been packed up and are ready to be shipped to troops overseas.

Carload after carload pulled into Hanscom Air Force Base Saturday to drop off cartons of cookies.

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts spent the day working with members of the military, getting the boxes ready for shipment.

Chuck Paone, Public Affairs Director at Hanscom Air Force Base says the delivery is a huge hit overseas.

"They've done this now for several years and we've always gotten great reviews from the troops overseas. It's a little taste of home. Everybody recognizes Girl Scout Cookies," he told WBZ-TV. "This is one of those great gestures that just means so much to everybody in the military."

To wash down all the cookies, Dunkin' Donuts says it will send along1,000 pounds of coffee.
