Car Sales Up In Massachusetts

BOSTON (CBS) - New car sales in Massachusetts rose nearly eight percent in 2011, thanks in large part to light truck sales, according to data obtained from Polk this week.

It was definitely an uneven ride for Massachusetts car sales, 2011 saw a good start, the summer was down and then sales picked up again in November and December.

In total there were close to 260,000 new cars sold in the state last year.

But what really helped boost that number was light truck sales. Light trucks outsold cars by a few hundred.

Japanese cars are the most popular with Massachusetts drivers.

The Honda Accord was the third best selling car in the state last year.

The Toyota Camry was second and the most popular vehicle last year was the Honda CR-V, a compact SUV, with more than 10,000 models sold in 2011.
