The Celtics have won five games in a row and take on the Lakers Thursday night. The Celtics guaranteed Greg Stiemsma’s contract for the remainder of the season.

The center spoke with Toucher & Rich about his contract, Kevin Garnett’s mood, Brandon Bass and his first game against the Lakers.

Was the fact that his contact wasn’t guaranteed a distraction as the Friday deadline approached?

“I mean I was aware of the date, but I don’t get too caught up in the business side of the game once you get into the season. I was feeling pretty confident that I was going to stick around, but you just never know.”

Is this $350,000 contract the most he’s earned playing at any level and what are the contracts like in Turkey where he used to play?

“Yeah absolutely, a little bit more than Turkey.”

“I was in the six figure range, but there were a few guys on my team that were almost around a million.”

Since the second win over the Orlando Magic we have seen a different Kevin Garnett in terms of performance and his swagger. What has he noticed about KG?

“KG’s so intense that once he gets rolling he’s tough to stop.”

They also discussed what it meant to this team to win big games without games like Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen and his first career game against the Lakers.
