Brady Sets Records, But 'We Could Have Done Better'

INDIANAPOLIS (CBS) - Patriots quarterback Tom Brady set numerous NFL records during New England's 21-17 Super Bowl XLVI loss to the Giants.

Brady broke Joe Montana's Super Bowl record with 16 consecutive pass completions. The total matched his own single-game postseason record. He also had 16 straight completed passes against the Jaguars on Jan. 12, 2008.

The Pats QB also passed Kurt Warner for the all-time record for passing yards in the Super Bowl after he threw for 276 yards in Sunday's game.

Brady also engineered one of the longest touchdown drives in Super Bowl history, a 96-yarder in the second quarter to put the Patriots up 10-9. The drive matched the Bears (vs. Patriots in 1986) and the Colts (vs. Saints in 2010).

But for Brady, who is now 3-2 in Super Bowls, he feels like he could have done more to help his team win.

"You always wish you could have done a little bit more," Brady said after the game. "When you lose, you rehash the game and certainly think about the things that we could have done better. I wish we could have made a few more plays."

One play that Brady wishes he could have back is a his fourth quarter interception. On the second play of the quarter, Brady bought himself some time, but was picked off by Chase Blackburn on his deep attempt to tight end Rob Gronkowski.

"You hate to throw those. I wish I would have gotten a little more on it," he said. "(I always want to give Rob) a chance to make the play. I just came up a little bit short."

Brady and the offense came up a short on their final bid, something that Brady had done so well in years past. He was two-for-six on the final drive, amassing just 30 yards through the air.

But his team was confident he could have brought them back, they just did not execute when they needed to.

"Any time we get a chance to get our offense on the field, we think we have a chance to score," said running back Danny Woodhead, who had 60 total yards and a touchdown. "It didn't work out like that. They ended up getting more points than us, and they ended up winning the game."

"We're always confident with Tom as our quarterback; an unbelievable quarterback," said Gronkowski.

"I thought we had a chance, just came up short again," Logan Mankins said of Brady's Hail Mary pass that didn't connect to end the game. "We moved the ball down and arranged where Tom could throw to the end zone, and we just didn't get it done."
