State Police Seek Witnesses In Deadly Route 3 Crash

WEYMOUTH (CBS) – State police are looking for help trying to figure out what caused a crash that killed a driver and his two-year-old passenger Monday night.

Thirty-five-year-old Curtis Thompson, Jr. of Rockland and the unidentified boy were killed when Thompson lost control of his Chevrolet Malibu on Route 3 south in Weymouth and crashed into two trees just after 7 p.m.

Thompson was not wearing a seat belt. The boy was in a child safety seat in the rear center of the car.

Both were rushed to South Shore Hospital where they died.

It's still not clear what caused Thompson to lose control of the car.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the moments leading up to it is asked to call the State Police Barracks in Norwell at 781-659-7911.

State police did not release the child's name or his relationship to Thompson.
