Stolen Jet Ski Belonged To Local Soldier In Afghanistan

CHELMSFORD (CBS) – Police are searching for the person who stole a jet ski that belonged to a Chelmsford soldier currently serving in Afghanistan.

Brian Ubele recently called his family from overseas and told them he wanted to buy a home when he returned.

The 26-year-old needed more money for a down payment, so he told his brother Jeremy to put his prized jet ski up for sale.

Jeremy Ubele shined up the black and gold watercraft and put it in the front yard of his home with a sign asking $8,000 for it.

WBZ-TV's Bill Shields reports.

The next morning, it was gone.

"It's just horrible," said Jeremy. "My brother is overseas, serving his country, and someone steals his jet ski. All he wants when he comes home is to become a police officer and buy a home. Now he'll be short of money."

The family is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who can help return the Jet Ski.

They also say if the jet ski is returned, they won't press charges.

"If the thief wants to return it, no questions asked, that's fine too," said Jeremy.
