BOSTON (CBS) – The Boston Red Sox have offered salary arbitration to David Ortiz and Dan Wheeler.

If Ortiz wants to sign elsewhere, the Red Sox get two draft picks. If Wheeler signs somewhere else they get one draft pick.

Bad move to give arbitration to Big Papi. He has been very good for Boston but is NOT worth 12.5 million or more. Many designated hitters available for a lot less. Wakefield and Varitek do not deserve arbitration. As senior members of the team, they should have shown some leadership with younger players during chicken and beer controversy. Time for them to move on.
