Business Headlines: Gift Cards Still Popular; New Minority Business Center

BOSTON (CBS) - Gift cards continue to be the most popular holiday gift.

Eighty-percent of people will buy gift cards this season, up from 77 percent last year.

Now, there's a growing number of sites dedicated to selling those cards for cash.

Cardcash.com and plasticjungle.com are just some of the gift card exchange sites where consumers can either hawk their gift cards for roughly 90-percent of the face value or buy gift cards at 10-to-15 percent off.

MINORITY BUSINESS CENTER

A minority business center has opened in Boston.

The Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council will offer financing and technical assistance to minority business owners who want to launch or expand.

The new center, one of 30 across the country, is on Huntington Avenue at Copley Place.

The center also wants to talk to anyone interested in doing business with minority-owned business.
