Pierce Hopes To Inspire Kids With Healthy Lifestyle Initiative

BOSTON (CBS) - Celtics Captain Paul Pierce is spending some of his free time during the current NBA lockout trying to inspire Boston kids to adopt healthy lifestyles.

Pierce helped The Boston Foundation kick off the "Million Hour Challenge" on Saturday.

I try to make the kids know you don't have to be a great athlete to be active, Pierce told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Kim Tunnicliffe. "It's fun being active and going outside with your friends, playing tag or jump rope."

The year-long initiative challenges 2,000 kids across the state to set an example for their peers by completing one million hours of physical activity in 2012.
