Occupy Boston Protesters Mark Two Month Anniversary

BOSTON CBS) - The number of protesters was not as large as expected, but members of Occupy Boston marched for nearly two hours through the streets of Boston to mark the two month anniversary of the movement.

It may not have been as boisterous as Occupy Wall Street, as protesters chanted slogans like "corporate greed has got to go" and "we are the 99 percent", under the watchful eyes of dozens of Boston police. No arrests were made as police say the protesters stuck to the route communicated ahead of time.

The march from the Dewey Square encampment to the North Washington Street bridge snarled rush hour traffic, as police temporarily shut down intersections to let the marchers through.

"I'm one hundred percent against it," said Warren Slade stuck in a traffic jam. "Get a job, there are jobs out there. Work hard and try to do something," he said. But protesters say the movement is the message, even if they can't completely define it.

WBZ's Jon Keller is at large:

"I think it's taking hold," said protester Katie Gradowski. "The idea of occupation, the idea of visibility," she said. They've become visible enough, but many are asking what is next beyond marches and encampments. "We're going to eventually get there. We're starting small and getting bigger," said protester Meghan Connolly.

It's enough so far for Linda Jenkins who can't quite say where it will lead. "We are doing more, we're doing a lot of organizing," she said. Boston police were told to expect about two thousand protesters, but in the end about five hundred marched. "Marching is just the beginning, a way for people to come together," said Aaron Tanaka.
