Jack Williams Honored For 30 Years Of 'Wednesday's Child'

READING (CBS) – The Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) celebrated the 30th Anniversary of "Wednesday's Child with Jack Williams" Sunday night.

35 "Wednesday's Children" came to an event at Jordan's Furniture in Reading, to honor Jack and his wife Marci for their hard work and dedication to find families for children since 1981.

Jack is driven because he says someone needs to act as a voice for those who have none.

"Who knew this was going to take off? I didn't expect to raise money, nor did Marci. Marci's got a lot bigger heart than I do. But we saw all of these agencies were broke. It's just not fair. Government's get in trouble, who are they going to cut back on? Kids. Kids without families. They don't vote and they don't have parents that vote. And we've got to fight for those rights," he said.

More than a thousand children have been featured on "Wednesday's Child" and many of them have found a new home.
